The riad, architectural feature of traditional Moroccan villas, is the heart of DarSabaah. The main rooms of the house, all luminous and spacious, open into the central atrium space lush with bougainvilleas and palm trees, encouraging reflection and inward focus. It is the perfect place to relax or read a book, have a siesta in the hammock or enjoy a delicious mint tea with family and friends. A staircase leads one up to an exquisite sunlit roof terrace, a wonderful vantage point for viewing the surrounding countryside or for a spot of private sunbathing.

  • "I had the good fortune to be one of the first clients of Dar Sabaah in Ghazoua many years ago and I've been back many many times since then and watched the riad evolve in the precious jewel that it is today. It is a sacred sanctuary with impeccable taste and profound artistic vision, rustic and pure with a lovely pool and a wonderful hammam. When I first went there in the late 70´s we used to invite Maalem Mahound Guinia and his Gnaoua tribe to come to the house for all night trance ceremonies called Lillahs. And you can still invite the Gnaoua to the house for a special night. Dar Sabaah has been part of my life for the last 30 years and I've composed some of my best music and writing there including parts of the score for The Sheltering Sky and my CD Majoun on Sony Classical. It is also a healing and magnetic site in a generous and friendly human environment. The setting the confort the delicate harmony of this unique haven becomes heaven and eden. A cure of happiness among gentle and caring people. I long to go back there."

  • "I discover the Riad in Dar Sabaah 15 years ago with some friends. A few years ago the owner redecorated the house, build the swimming pool and the Jacouzi and has formed the staff to create a fantastic maroccan riad for rental. I rent the riad one or two weeks a year with some friends. Every time is an enchantment!!! The house is amazing and confortable and respectfull of Maroccan style and tradition! The cook is clever and used to cook Maroccan food or European. In the morning I love to go with him to the fish market in Essaouira (15 minutes by car) and buy the best fish I found to be grilled or boiled. The staff is respectful and kind. The serenity of the riad is perfect to bring friends or family with children. And ......the sunset is so romantic!!!!!!!!!! I can just suggest to try once a vacation in Dar Sabaah, and, I swear, you will return soon."
